Everything You Need To Know About Sculptra

sculptra, what is sculptra, how long does sculptra last,

Getting wrinkles is a simple fact of life and a natural part of aging, but deep lines that result from smiling seem like a pretty unfair punishment for being happy! We all have smile lines, but when these lines turn into permanent creases around our mouth, they can make us seem a lot older than we are. Deep smile lines also make us look tired, and they can even make our cheeks look puffy and fat.

The challenge is, how to deal with such an isolated but serious deep-tissue wrinkle issue without having to submit to surgery? At HZ Plastic Surgery, we’ve found the solution: Sculptra injectables. You’ve probably heard of other injectables, such as Botox and Dysport. Sculptra injectables are similar to these but different in some important ways. Here is everything you need to know about Sculptra.

What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable that targets moderate to severe wrinkles around the mouth and chin by helping your body naturally boost its production of collagen and gradually increase skin thickness.

The way this works is with Sculptra’s main ingredient, polylactic acid, which is a biodegradable synthetic polymer. When sculptra is injected into a person’s tissue, it releases beads of polylactic acid, and over time the beads break down and can be replaced with natural collagen.

How Long Does Sculptra Last?

Because the way Sculptra works is by gradually increasing a person’s production of collagen, our MedSpa specialist and lead esthetician Denise Muzzonigro typically recommends a treatment plan of 3 injections over the course of 3 to 4 months for best results.

According to clinical studies of Sculptra on patients, the results of Sculptra typically last up to 2 years after the initial treatment. However, it’s important to keep in mind that individual results may vary from patient to patient.
