WHAT IS sculptRa?
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that targets moderate to severe wrinkles around the mouth and chin. Sculptra helps to gradually increase your natural production of collagen over which is an underlying cause of developing wrinkles (lack of collagen). This course of treatment requires at least 2 injections 6 weeks apart and results appear with time.
How Does Sculptra Work?
Sculptra is an injectable treatment made from polylactic acid that requires an average of three treatments to gradually correct moderate to severe wrinkles. This FDA-approved injectable contains beads of polyactic acid, a biodegradable synthetic polymer, which provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. Over time, the beads break down and your body will begin to replace them with your own natural collagen.
How Long Does Sculptra Last?
In some cases, patients are able to see results after 2 injections performed 6 weeks apart. In a clinical study conducted by Sculptra, patients reported seeing results up to 2 years after receiving treatment. However, it's important to keep in mind that results can vary from patient to patient.
Is Sculptra Painful?
As with any injection, patients can report feeling pain. However, at HZ Plastic Surgery, we use advanced techniques to ensure as minimal discomfort as possible. Also, it is common to use an anesthetic cream before injection in order to numb the area.
