What is a tummy tuck?
The technical term for a tummy tuck is an abdominoplasty. During an abdominoplasty, Dr. Z will remove excess skin, tighten the abdominal muscles, and reduces fatty deposits to reveal a flatter, firmer stomach. This procedure is highly customizable based on your current stomach, intended goals, and Dr. Z's professional discretion. There are various tummy tuck procedures offered to patients: traditional tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, endoscopic tummy tuck, extended tummy tuck, and circumferential tummy tuck. Each of these procedures target specific problem areas and are needed based on your unique stomach. Choose a Tummy Tuck in Orlando, FL.

What is a "Mommy Makeover"?
An increasingly popular phenomenon, the "Mommy Makeover", combines a Tummy Tuck procedure and a Breast Lift or Breast Augmentation (depends on the patient's needs). After giving birth, it can be difficult to regain your pre-baby body as fatty tissue and/or loose skin can be unresponsive to healthy eating and consistent exercise. The ideal candidate for a "Mommy Makeover" should not plan on having any more children as the results of these procedures would be compromised. If you're considering a "Mommy Makeover" to tighten your tummy and lift your breasts, schedule your consultation with Dr. Z today. Choose a Mommy Makeover in Orlando, FL.

Who is a good candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
Plastic surgery should always be a personal decision that is not influenced by the opinions of others. Patients must be in good health to be considered for this procedure. Many patients turn to this procedure for a variety of reasons. If you identify with any of the following, then you may be a good candidate for a tummy tuck:
- Your stomach protrudes and lacks muscle tone
- Your skin is stretched and/or sagging
- Following weight loss you have loose skin
- Feel self conscious about your stomach
- You're in good shape but your stomach still sticks out
How long is Tummy Tuck recovery?
After your surgery, you will be taken to our recovery room where our staff can supervise you. Usually, patients are cleared to go home after a few hours. In certain cases that require extensive surgery, you may be required to stay overnight in a hospital to ensure professional supervision for the first full day after surgery.
Because this procedure is centered on your abdominal muscles, recovery time is much longer than other procedures. It is typical for patients to feel sore and uncomfortable for the first week following the procedure. You will probably feel like resting in bed, but it's encouraged to gently walk around to promote healthy blood circulation. You may have a drain that is placed in your incisions to help your body rid any fluids after surgery for a few days. If you have a drain, it is imperative to follow the instructions that our plastic surgery team will provide you in order to remain safe and free of infection.
Returning to work depends on your typical work day. If you work an office job, you can expect 1-2 weeks until you're ready to return to work. However, if you're working a physically demanding job, you can expect anywhere upward of a month until you're ready to return to work. It's crucial to avoid any lifting up to a month after surgery as it exposes you to risk of bursting your incision resulting in bleeding and swelling. This can compromise your results, so be sure to follow your recovery protocol laid out to you by Dr. Z.
Are there different Tummy Tuck techniques?
Mini-Tummy Tuck: This option is great for patients that have a stomach that slightly sticks out, stretch marks below the belly button, or excess skin. A mini-tummy tuck involves one horizontal incision above the pubic mound which allows Dr. Z to tighten your abdominal muscles and remove excess fat revealing a flatter stomach.
Full Tummy Tuck: If you're bothered by excess fat, stretch marks, or loose skin above and below your belly button, this is a great option for you. This involved a U-shaped incision on the pubic mound which enables Dr. Z to tighten your abdominal muscles and remove excess fat to reveal a flatter stomach. Sometimes, this requires a second incision above the belly button in order to address excess skin.
Extended Tummy Tuck: This option is great for those that have recently lost weight and consequently have a great deal of excess, hanging skin. Or, if you've recently given birth and noticed your stomach is not what it used to be. This option requires the longest incision, but it is able to address both upper and lower abdominal excess skin effectively to produce natural results. The only downside is the scar that this option remains, but many patients feel as though the drastically increased appearance of their abdominal section is well worth the scar.
